Orakel focuses on sustainable entrepreneurship demonstrated through its 'modus operandi'

Orakel recently achieved the 'Milieucharter' (Environmental Charter) awarded by the Province of Antwerp 2009-2010. This award is given to companies who ongoingly demonstrate environment related working practises that go beyond legal obligations.

An action plan consisting of 10 specific criteria was planned by Orakel and our methodologies and outcomes were subsequently validated by external audit'. Voka - Chamber of Commerce Kempen and Mechelen awarded Orakel accreditation of this prestigious environmental certificate which also allows us to carry their insignia on all our internal and external paperwork.

In addition, Orakel's woven textile wristbands are Öko-Tex certified. Since 1992 the Öko-Tex 100-norm has become an international safety norm recognised throughout the textile industry. The Öko-Tex Standard 100 certificate is not an environment certificate but a recognised quality certificate for textiles that are free from health damaging substances. This certification ensures that standards are observed in the production of textiles relating to any potentially harming influences such as production plant metals/steel etc, harming colourants and plant treatment procedures. The Oko-tex insignia is immediately recognisable by all users.

Any product that carries the Oko-Tex insignia has passed stringent tests by independent institutes, who apply unambiguous, strict criteria. These are:

  • Guaranteed free of colourants which may cause allergenic reactions.
  • Guaranteed free of carcinogenic colourants or similar substances
  • Contains rigidly enforced low tolerance percentage levels of insecticides
  • ensuring a skin-friendly ph-value

A noteable step was taken by Orakel in July 2010 to join UPS, a global carrier company, in their initiative to demonstrate a willingness to lessen the impact of leaving carbon footprints by introducing a carbon netrual way of sending packages etc. We feel as UPS do that we have a professional responsibility borne of an educated awareness to uphold our work ethics and be able to demonstrate this through our working practises. To explain how this works, UPS first purchases certified CO2-credits for their carbon neutral shipments, and the cost of these compensates for the emissions caused by sending consignments. These credits for a small fee are then made available to companies whose manufacturing processes produce CO2 emissions or greenhouse gases below a set level which UPS monitor being a member of a worldwide certificate and validation body who are dedicated to reducing fuel consumption, saving energy, recycling, and are proactive in their approach to reducing emissions.
